Biography
About
Luke Kulukundis is a music producer from London. Working from Forest Hill, he has worked with a plethora of South London's finiest over his 9 years in the industry.
Growing up in a context of punk, dub and folk music, Kulukundis found his own response to these movements via leftfield trip-hop, following a methodology of sound design first songwriting and sampling, often returning to his guitar to perform from.
His own artistic output has focused around trip-hop collective Nukuluk, a project birthed from his solo project Syd Nukuluk. The group made a name for itself as occupying a new space in alternative music, centred around Kulukundis' leftfield production and vocal back and forth with MC Monika.
Kulukundis is currently bringing that methodology to artists such as Mr Beale, Divine Earth, Wildwood Father and more. He performs live with krautrock/avant group Snorkel, seasoned experimentalists from the extended universe of South London experimentalism, and is working on several solo projects.
He is based between his production suite, 1888 Studios, and Snorkel Studios, both of which are in Forest Hill. Snorkel Studios is renowned for a unique live room, serious collection of pre-amps and vintage microphones and above all for being a regular choice for expimental legends such as Charles Hayward, Gong, Daniel O'Sullivan and more.
Kulukundis worked as a producer with Foreign Body Productions Ltd for 6 years, taking a particular lead on community arts facilitation and program development, and producing a long list of documentaries, short films and music videos. During the pandemic he worked with the Albany theatre to deliver Open Source Collaborations, a remote programme for isolated artists without resources to create work whilst the world had stopped. Works produced were selected for multiple film festivals and a broad network within creative media and community arts was formed.
